Feather Her Nest Shower

I hosted a couples shower for our friends that were expecting a baby girl. The couple are both avid bird watchers, so I thought a bird theme was perfect.

The mother-to-be is a huge fan of carrot cake, and that's what they serve at their wedding, so I baked one and decorated it with a woodland inspiration.

We served brunch including french toast casserole, fruit and yogurt parfaits, bacon, mini quiche, and my daughter's Krispy Kreme donuts tree. I served the parfaits in mason jars and used the milk bottles to serve juices.

I made a bird themed diaper cake for the couple as well.

For the guests' party favors I made bird seed ornaments to hang outside for the birds to enjoy.

Audrey's 2nd Bee Day Party

Our daughter Audrey's birthday is in the fall, but I chose a rather Springy theme for her 2nd birthday last year. I chose the traditional yellow and black color scheme for the Bumble Bee theme, with a few white accents.

This is the invitation that I order from Andersruff that I adored, and I took off with their idea of serving "bar-BEE-que" sandwiches, along with bee hive cake, honey combs, and lemon heads.

I used jars of honey with dippers and yellow "bumble gum" as party favors.
The cake pan is NordicWare and I used a Martha Stewart recipe for honey cake. The sugar bees were purchased from Amazon, along with most of the balloons and other decorations. The food markers and bumble gum tags were ordered from Etsy.

Happy Bee Day Audrey!

Showering Courtney and Her Little Man

Showering Courtney and Her Little Man

What better why to kick off my new blog than with a celebration of new life...a baby shower! My dear friend since middle school, Courtney, is expecting a baby boy in August, so her friend Katie and I combined forces to host a shower. We both loved the idea of bow ties, and we decided to use a Tiffany blue and mandarin palette inspired by this party. Courtney decoupaged letters to spell the the baby's name, a great decoration for the party, and doubles as decor for the nursery!

Courtney also made the tissue poms and a bow tie garland out of paper in keeping with the colors of the party, as well as the nautical theme of the nursery.

I wanted to incorporate some photos of the proud parents-to-be, so that you can morph them together in your head and imagine how cute baby Campbell will be. I originally planned on hanging them on twine with clothespins, but when I saw Courtney's wreath I was inspired to use it instead.

The rest of the decorations included a pennant made from the same paper as the bow tie garland, and fresh oranges.

The shower was mid afternoon, so we didn't go overboard on the snacks. Miss Katie mixed up some refreshing Blueberry limeade and mimosas to sip while we oohed and ahhed over adorable baby things. We also had sausage balls, key lime cupcakes, fruit salad (are you singing the Wiggles song in your head? I know I am), individual macaroni and cheese (made with bow tie pasta of course), and precious bow tie cookies made by the fabulous ladies at Pink Magnolia Bakery. I asked them to use Tiffany blue and orange, and the cookies turned out perfect! So detailed!

After presents and games, we finished up with some onesie decorating! Cheers!
